Service Description
Glazing can feel like one of the most overwhelming parts of ceramics when you’re just starting out. This six-week workshop is designed to help demystify the process and build a strong foundation in glazing. Ideal for students who have taken at least one ceramics class and are ready to advance their glazing skills, this course covers the basics of glaze chemistry, application methods, and the importance of testing. Some test tiles will be provided as well as the opportunity for students to create there own series of test tiles that mimic their work style. Throughout the workshop, you’ll gain a foundational understanding of what glaze is and how it works, while being guided through a range of application techniques, from proper mixing to dipping, as well as practical tips and tricks to achieve more consistent and intentional results. This 6-week class includes clay, underglazes, glaze materials, and 5 Open Studio passes, giving you additional time outside of scheduled class sessions to practice. Please note: There is no class on Oct. 14, so the course will meet for a total of six sessions.
