Service Description
Curious about working with clay by hand? This introductory handbuilding class focuses on coil construction and is perfect for beginners or anyone looking to strengthen their foundational skills. Students will learn multiple ways to build both functional and sculptural forms using coils, gaining a hands-on understanding of form, structure, and surface. In the final class, students will learn about glazing and finish their pieces. This workshop includes clay, use of studio tools, and two Open Studio Passes for extra time outside of class. The course may be taken on its own or as part of our bundled option, Handbuilding 101 Intensive—a 12-week program covering coil, pinch, and slab techniques that includes 10 Open Studio Passes, clay, and full use of studio tools.
